In 1862, the extravagant William Cowper sold the Sandringham to Albert Edward Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII. This is where the house fell into the hands of the Royal family.
Sandringham House is a country house in the parish of Sandringham, Norfolk, England. It is one of the royal residences of Charles III, whose grandfather, George VI, and great-grandfather, George V, both died there. The house stands in a 20,000-acre (8,100 ha) estate in the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Sandringham House is open to visit until 11 October. The main eight ground floor rooms, regularly used by the Royal Family, are open to the public and the decor and contents remain very much as they were in Edwardian times. Sandringham House was built in 1870 by The Prince and Princess of Wales, who later became King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra.
The House is perhaps the most famous stately home in Norfolk and is at the heart of the 8,000 hectare Sandringham Estate. 240 hectares of which make up the woodland and heath of the Country Park, open to the public free of charge every day of the year.
