He served as president of Turkey for 15 years (from 1923 until he died in 1938) and is credited with creating the Republic of Turkey (aka modern Turkey) after the collapse of the Ottoman Empire after World War I.
Birthplace: Manisa. Died: December 31, 1595. Murad III, son of Şehzade Selim and Nurbanu Sultan, was the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire from 1574 to 1595. He was dominated by his mother and his harem, particularly by his favorite wife, Safiye Sultan. He also fought wars with the Safavid Empire and was an art connoisseur.
