Frederick III (German: Friedrich III, 21 September 1415 – 19 August 1493) was Holy Roman Emperor from 1452 until his death in 1493. He was the penultimate emperor to be crowned by the pope, and the last to be crowned in Rome.

Born in Innsbruck on 21 September 1415. Died in Linz on 19 August 1493. Motto: A.E.I.O.U. Lasting fifty-three years, Frederick’s reign was the longest of any king or emperor of the Holy Roman Empire. He was tenacious rather than decisive – he succeeded in overcoming many of his political adversaries simply by surviving them.
Frederick III (21 September 1415 – 19 August 1493), called the Peaceful, was Holy Roman Emperor from 1452 until his death, the first emperor of the House of Habsburg. He was the penultimate emperor to be crowned by the Pope, and the last to be crowned in Rome.
Logically, Frederick should have taken as his regnal name either Frederick I (if the Bismarckian empire was considered a new entity) or Frederick IV (if it was considered a continuation of the old Holy Roman Empire, which had had three emperors named Frederick); he himself preferred the latter.
