Pr.) war ein richtungsweisender deutscher Wissenschaftler, dessen Tätigkeit sich auf die Gebiete Astronomie, Mathematik, Geodäsie und Physik erstreckte. Während der Ausbildung zum Kaufmann in Bremen erwuchs sein Interesse für die Astronomie.
