RCT adds that the interiors still bear the mark of its notable inhabitants, from Queen Charlotte and her daughters’ keen interest in horticulture, to pieces by the Duchess of Kent (Queen Victoria’s mother), a resident at the House for nearly two decades, as well as works by her famous daughter.
Royal gardens have formed the backdrop to many significant royal events, both private and official, and have allowed passionate royal gardeners an outlet for their creativity. Using objects from across the Royal Collection, this trail explores ways in which the gardens have developed and been shaped by members of the Royal Family and highlights some of the most interesting features of each one.
