History. The school was founded in 1855 as a private diocesan school with the blessing of Bishop Perry by the Venerable Theodore Stretch, Archdeacon of Geelong, with an initial enrolment of fourteen boys.

Our Archives are the repository for the official and unofficial documentary records of Geelong Grammar School, Clyde School and The Hermitage School, including admissions registers, publications, bursars’ records, ephemera, letters, minutes and record books.
It outlines the first four significant steps in the school’s history—its foundation in 1855, the move to its existing site on the edge of Corio Bay in 1914, the establishment of Timbertop in 1953, and the transition to co-education in 1972.
