Hace 2 días · Henry III (1 October 1207 – 16 November 1272), also known as Henry of Winchester, was King of England, Lord of Ireland, and Duke of Aquitaine from 1216 until his death in 1272. [1] The son of King John and Isabella of Angoulême, Henry assumed the throne when he was only nine in the middle of the First Barons' War.

10 de may. de 2024 · King John’s successor, Henry III, reissued the Magna Carta on November 12, 1216, in the hope of recalling the allegiance of rebellious barons who were supporting French King Louis VIII’s efforts to win control of England. It was reissued again in 1217, when the council reconsidered it clause by clause.

Eleanor survived her husband by almost twenty years, after fourteen of which she became "a humble nun of the order of Fontevrault of the convent of Amesbury" (p. 287).
