El accidente del Hindenburg ocurrió el 6 de mayo de 1937, cuando el dirigible de pasajeros alemán LZ 129 Hindenburg se incendió y fue destruido durante un intento de aterrizaje en la Estación de Aire Naval Lakehurst en el municipio de Mánchester (Nueva Jersey, Estados Unidos).

La más aceptada fue que una chispa de electricidad estática provocada por un relámpago durante la tormenta junto con el hidrógeno expulsado por el dirigible en la maniobra de atraque provocaron la fatal explosión.
El LZ 129 Hindenburg fue un dirigible alemán tipo zeppelin, destruido a causa de un incendio cuando aterrizaba en Nueva Jersey el 6 de mayo de 1937. El accidente ocasionó la muerte de 36 personas (alrededor de un tercio de las personas a bordo).

25 de abr. de 2024 · On May 6, 1937, while landing at Lakehurst, New Jersey, on the second of its scheduled 1937 transatlantic crossings, the Hindenburg burst into flames and was completely destroyed. Of the 97 persons aboard, 35 were killed. One member of the ground crew also perished.
