22 de mar. de 2024 · Battle of Towton, (March 29, 1461), battle fought on Palm Sunday near the village of Towton, about 10 miles (16 km) southwest of York, now in North Yorkshire, England. The largest and bloodiest battle of the Wars of the Roses, it secured the English throne for Edward IV against his Lancastrian opponents.

Battle of Towton. Coordinates: 53°50′10″N 01°16′25″W. The Battle of Towton took place on 29 March 1461 during the Wars of the Roses, near Towton in North Yorkshire, and "has the dubious distinction of being probably the largest and bloodiest battle on English soil". [4] .
