Kent Family History Society has a long tradition of helping researchers find out more about family, local and social history in Kent. Our quarterly journal publishes news and articles with Kent connections and explores resources and approaches to research issues.
Kent, one of the kingdoms of Anglo-Saxon England, probably geographically coterminous with the modern county, famous as the site of the first landing of Anglo-Saxon settlers in Britain, as the kingdom that received the first Roman mission to the Anglo-Saxons, and for its distinctive social and administrative customs.

Kent is traditionally divided into East Kent and West Kent and such a division can be traced back at least as far as the Anglo-Saxon Kingdom of Kent. Those from the East are known as Men of Kent (or Maids of Kent) and those from the West as Kentish Men (or Kentish Maids). Iron Age and Roman Period

The North West Kent Family History Society was formed in 1978 with the object of aiding and encouraging the study of family history and genealogy in South East London and North West Kent. There are around 1,400 members, whose interests cover the whole of Great Britain and beyond.
