Located at the bottom of the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, at the opposite end to Edinburgh Castle, Holyroodhouse has served as the principal royal residence in Scotland since the 16th century, and is a setting for state occasions and official entertaining. The Palace adjoins Holyrood Abbey, and the gardens are set within Holyrood Park.

The Palace of Holyroodhouse is the official residence of the Monarchy in Scotland. Founded as a monastery in 1128 at the end of the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, the Palace of Holyroodhouse has a close association with the History of Scotland.
El palacio de Holyroodhouse, más conocido como palacio de Holyrood, ha servido como principal residencia de los monarcas de Escocia desde el siglo XVI. At the Palace of Holyroodhouse, visitors can explore magnificent historic and State Apartments, the beautiful ruins of the 12th-century Holyrood Abbey and remarkable royal gardens, all with a complimentary multimedia tour in 10 languages.
Visit Holyrood Abbey. Today, you can wander through the Abbey nave and gardens where kings and queens have walked. See the East Processional Doorway, the only surviving part of David I’s original monastery, and the West Front of the rebuilt church, one of the most impressive Gothic facades in Scotland.
