Gaeilge.ie is a portal site for the Irish language which is administered by Foras na Gaeilge. The site functions as a central point of information for those seeking information on Irish language organisations and services and Foras na Gaeilge stakeholders.
The official status of the Irish language has remained high in the Republic of Ireland from foundation. This reflects the dominance of the language in Irish cultural and social history until the nineteenth century and its role in Irish cultural identity. In 2022, strong recognition was added in Northern Ireland also.
Irish today has roughly 30,000 native speakers living in Gaeltacht areas, with a further 100,000 speakers who can be said to be regular users of the language. Every census has recorded an increase in the number of people who claim some fluency in Irish and the overwhelming majority of Irish people value the language as a marker of national identity and support its teaching in schools.
Today, Irish is still commonly spoken as a first language in areas of Ireland collectively known as the Gaeltacht, in which only 2% of Ireland's population lived in 2022.

19 de dic. de 2023 · Level of Irish. The Irish language question was expanded in Census 2022 and asked people who spoke Irish how well they spoke the language. Of those aged three years and over who spoke Irish, 10% declared they spoke it very well and 32% indicated they spoke it well.
