In her autobiography (1991) Hepburn stated her birth date as 1907. She was one of six children (three of each gender) born to a socially prominent, well-to-do, activist family.
The film provided an opportunity to engineer the screen debut of Hepburn’s niece Katharine Houghton, who was cast as Hepburn and Tracy’s daughter.
