Kingston upon Thames, colloquially known as Kingston, is a town in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, south-west London, England. It is situated on the River Thames, 10 miles (16 km) south-west of Charing Cross. It is an ancient market town, notable as the place where some Saxon kings were crowned.
Located in southwest London, the historic town of Kingston is situated on the picturesque River Thames, just 12 miles from Central London and a 28-minute train ride from Waterloo. The town is well-served by public transport and is close to Heathrow Airport and London’s orbital motorway, the M25.

Kingston upon Thames, royal borough and outer borough of London, England, about 12 miles (19 km) southwest of central London. It lies on the south bank of the River Thames and is part of the historic county of Surrey. The present borough was established in 1965 by amalgamation of the former royal.
