Charles Carroll passed away on November 14th, 1832 while in residence at the mansion. He was 95. His death was a locally and nationally recognized event. The Catons continued to live at the house until their deaths in 1845 (Richard) and 1846 (Mary). The mansion’s ownership eventually passed to the Catons’ youngest daughter Emily MacTavish.

In 2002, the non-profit organization Carroll Museums, Inc. reopened the Mansion and has been restoring it since. It is currently open for tours and to rent for events. Watch our Five Minute Histories video on this building!
The Carroll Mansion (also known as the Carroll-Caton House or Carroll Mansion Museum) is a historic building and museum located in Baltimore, Maryland. History.
