Leopoldo I. Primer rey de Bélgica, con el que dio comienzo la dinastía de Sajonia-Coburgo (Coburgo, 1790 - Bruselas, 1865). Leopoldo I era el hijo menor de la casa ducal de un pequeño principado independiente de Alemania, el Ducado de Sajonia-Coburgo. La lucha contra Napoleón lo llevó a servir como oficial en el ejército ruso (1805-10).
