The 19th-century historian Jules Michelet attributed the restoration of the French monarchy to the sympathy that had been engendered by the execution of Louis XVI.

19 de abr. de 2024 · Louis XVI was executed on orders from the National Convention in January 1793, and in August the queen was put in solitary confinement in the Conciergerie. She was brought before the Revolutionary tribunal on October 14, 1793, and was guillotined two days later.

While the Chapelle Expiatoire in Paris is dedicated to her and to her husband, King Louis XVI, she is buried at the Basilica Cathedral of Saint Denis, France.

Hace 4 días · Marie Antoinette’s Arrest and Execution. In August 1792, the monarchy was officially abolished, and two months later, the royal family was imprisoned. Louis XVI was executed by guillotine on January 21, 1793. In October 1793, Marie Antoinette faced trial and was also sentenced to death; she was executed by guillotine on October 16th.
