Mafalda Margarethe Prinzessin und Landgräfin von Hessen (born 6 July 1965), known also as Princess Mafalda of Hesse, is a German aristocrat and fashion designer. She is the eldest child of Moritz, Landgrave of Hesse and Princess Tatiana of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg.

In 1925, Philipp married Princess Mafalda, and the couple made their home at the Villa Polissena in Rome, living close to Mafalda’s parents. Between 1926-1940, the couple had four children—three sons and a daughter.

Mafalda of Hesse (1902-1944) is deported to Buchenwald with her husband Philip Prince of Hesse in 1943. Her husband is suspected of being involved with the Italian royal family in the overthrow of Mussolini.
