Magdalen College is open every day from 2 January to 19 December between 10am and dusk or 5.00pm, whichever is the earlier, with the exception of July, August and September when the college will close at 6.30pm. (These are subject to occasional change which will be advertised on this website, or our noticeboard outside the main entrance.

Architecture and gardens. The college is located on a 100-acre site that includes beautiful gardens and a deer park, and its buildings are in a striking Gothic and notable neoclassical architectural styles, including the striking Magdalen Tower, which dates back to the 15th century and is one of Oxford’s most recognisable landmarks.
The first thing you need to know about Magdalen College is that it is one of the oldest, largest, and most beautiful colleges in Oxford. Some people tell us it can seem a bit grand at first, but once you spend a little time here you’ll realise that behind the old buildings and the manicured lawns Magdalen is a wonderful home.
6 de ago. de 2021 · Here’s the deal: Mary Magdalen isn’t known as Mary ‘Maudlin’ in Oxford, she is only pronounced ‘Maudlin’ when referring to the college. The bridge is also ‘Maudlin’ because it is named after the college. Mary Magdalen church is pronounced ‘Mag-duh-lin’ in the usual way, as is the street which is named after the church.
