He had one of the queen's head garnishings of diamonds, pearls, and rubies broken up to embroider a cloak for the young king, during the visit of the English ambassador Edward Wotton in May 1585.

Walter and Marjory (died 25 March 1317 x 24 March 1318) were married shortly after 27 April 1315 and Robert is likely to have been born early in 1316.
