31 de may. de 2015 · Margaret Beaufort, Countess of Richmond and Derby, and matriarch of the Tudor dynasty, was born at Bletsoe Castle in Bedfordshire on 31st May 1443. She was the daughter of Margaret Beauchamp of Bletsoe and John Beaufort, 1st Duke of Somerset, grandson of John of Gaunt, 1st Duke of Lancaster, and his mistress (and eventual wife) Katherine Swynford.

Edmund Tudor was the half brother of King Henry VI. Edmund was the son of the king’s mother, Catherine Valois and Owen Tudor, her second husband. Despite the fact he was brother to the king, Edmund Tudor had no claim on the English throne whatsoever. She was just 12 years of age when she married Edmund Tudor.
25 de jul. de 2023 · Enrique abban a pillanatban arra gondolt, hogy feleségül veszi az ifjú Margarita Beaufort-ot egy családtagjához. Margarita később elmesélte, hogy volt egy látomása, amelyben Szent Miklós jóváhagyta a házasságát Edmund Tudorral, ahelyett, hogy Juan de la Poleval megállapodott volna. Így 1453-ban felbontották a házassági szerződést de la Pole-val.

Para conocer el origen de la familia Beaufort tenemos que partir de la figura del príncipe inglés Juan de Gante, hijo del rey Eduardo III y duque de Lancaster (de ahí el nombre de la casa a la que pertenecían sus descendientes).
