John's other son, Thomas Seymour, was made a baron and Lord High Admiral; he eloped with Henry VIII's widow Catherine Parr in 1547. Both the Seymour sons were beheaded for treason, only a few years apart. John's other daughter, Elizabeth Seymour, was married to Gregory Cromwell, son of Henry's new chief minister, Thomas Cromwell.
Sir John Seymour, born circa 1474, was an English soldier and courtier serving under Henry VII and Henry VIII. He was the eldest son of John Seymour and Elizabeth Darell. Seymour married Margery Wentworth, and the couple had ten children. He was knighted for his services against Cornish rebels at Blackheath and later became a Knight banneret.
