7 de may. de 2024 · La vida accidentada de María de Medici. En sus obras, Rubens hace todo un despliegue de destreza y diplomacia, ya que la vida de la reina era un tema delicado. En 1610, a la muerte de Enrique IV, María de Medici asumió la regencia durante la minoría de edad de su hijo, el futuro Luis XIII, y así gobernó Francia.
Los ciclos de pinturas como este que analizamos aquí, eran comunes en la época a la hora de decorar nuevas construcciones palaciegas de monarcas o nobles. Cuando éstos necesitaban un buen número de lienzos que adornasen sus paredes. Pedro Pablo Rubens (1577 – 1640) es una de las figuras más destacadas de la estética barroca en Flandes.
