Emmanuel de Grouchy, marquis de Grouchy (French pronunciation: [ɛmanɥɛl də ɡʁuʃi]; 23 October 1766 – 29 May 1847) was a French military leader who served during the French Revolutionary Wars and the Napoleonic Wars.

Emmanuel Grouchy. French Marshal. 1766-1847. Blame for the French loss at Waterloo has been heaped upon Grouchy whose courage and fine career, as well as winning the battle of Wavre, have been largely ignored.
One of the enduring controversies of the Waterloo campaign is the conduct of Marshal Grouchy. Given command of a third of Napoleon s army and told to keep the Prussians from joining forces with Wellington, he failed to keep Wellington and Blücher apart with the result that Napoleon was overwhelmed at Waterloo. Grouchy, though, was not defeated.
