Maria (Mary) Tudor ( Greenwich, 18 februari 1516 — Londen, 17 november 1558) was koningin van Engeland van 1553 tot 1558 en afkomstig uit het Huis Tudor. Zij was een dochter van Hendrik VIII en zijn eerste echtgenote Catharina van Aragon. Zij verwierf de bijnamen 'de Katholieke' en 'de Bloedige' ( Bloody Mary ).
Owen Tudor (Welsh: Owain ap Maredudd ap Tudur) was born around 1400. He was a Welsh courtier and the second husband of Catherine of Valois. Catherine had been married to Henry V, King of England, but when he died, on 31 August 1422, Catherine and Owen married. Together they had three sons: Edmund: born around 1430.
Mary Tudor arrived at London to a huge welcome. Entering through Aldgate she was met by Elizabeth, Anne of Cleves and many others. Mary quickly ordered the release of her supporters that had been locked up at the Tower of London. The Duke of Northumberland and his supporters were placed in the Tower of London to await trial and execution.
Definition. Henry VIII of England ruled as king from 1509 to 1547 CE. The second Tudor king after his father Henry VII of England (r. 1485-1509 CE), Henry had inherited a kingdom which enjoyed both unity and sound finances. Famous for his six wives as he searched for a male heir, the king was charismatic and domineering.
