Norman Hartnell: Norman Hartnell was born in London on 1901 and had set up his fashion house in 1923. Norman Hartnell is most famous for his lavishly romantic evening and bridal gowns. Mr. Hartnell designed longer-length skirts which contradicted the short dresses of the 1920's flappers.

Download image. The Queen’s Coronation Dress is regarded as one of the most important examples of twentieth-century design, created by a British couturier. Hartnell was entrusted with the task of designing the dress in October 1952, given his talent for combining rich fabrics with exquisitely designed embroideries.
Place of origin. London (made) Beaded, silk "crinoline" evening gowns became Norman Hartnell's hallmark. He was at the peak of his career in the mid1950s, when he designed this dress. Featuring a flamboyant, beaded pink flower over each breast, it would have been considered rather daring at the time.
