The most widely spoken Germanic language, English, is also the world's most widely spoken language with an estimated 2 billion speakers.

Hace 1 día · The Vikings spoke Old Norse, the ancestor to modern Scandinavian languages. On the other hand, Germans spoke various Old Germanic dialects which later evolved into modern German. So while both languages stem from earlier Germanic linguistic tradition, Viking Old Norse and German Old Germanic tongues were distinct by the medieval period.
