Der Kaiser ernannte Otto von Bismarck zu seinem Reichskanzler und erhob ihn in den erblichen Fürstentitel. Außerdem beschenkte er ihn reich mit dem Schwarzenbeck, Sachsenwald und Friedrichsruh.
