The couple began dating in May 2008 while attending Milan’s Bocconi University. Pierre studied international business, while Beatrice studied law. Beatrice also earned an M.A. degree from New York’s Columbia University in 2012.
Pierre’s uncle, Prince Albert, and his aunt, Princess Charlene, are expected to attend, as are the groom’s mother, Princess Caroline, brother Andrea Casiraghi and sisters Charlotte Casiraghi and Princess Alexandra of Hanover. Early press reports suggestedPierre offered his bride-to-be a large pink diamond engagement ring. Recent photographs, however, show her wearing a halo of white pear-shaped diamonds with a diamond-encrusted band.
Within the Grimaldi clan, Pierre’s reputation is that of a diligent student and serious businessman (he has held control of his late father’s construction business since 2009). He also has a devilish sense of humor, friends say, and plays the saxophone.
Pierre experienced brief tabloid notoriety in February 2012 when he was hospitalized after a fight erupted in Manhattan’s Double Seven nightclub. Beatrice was with him at the time and took to Twitterto defend Pierre.
There is a saint in the Borromeo family line – St. Charles Borromeo was a cardinal who was archbishop of Milan from 1564 to 1584.
