Surely it’s a lot to do with class too. Most great British music is steeped in working class, whether it’s their accents, lyrics or play style. Oasis, arctic monkeys, prodigy, black sabbath, even the Beatles were scouse. A lot of American music is a sort of neutral class all made for a global audience, so it all ends up somewhat watered down.
