William IV, however, disapproved of any match with the Coburgs, and instead favoured the suit of Prince Alexander , second son of the Prince of Orange .

Previously, some cakes featured wooden broomstick pillars covered in icing, but the Duke’s cake used a hardened type of icing, according to Edible Art Bakery and Dessert Cafe.
