Princess Augusta of Cambridge (Augusta Caroline Charlotte Elizabeth Mary Sophia Louise; 19 July 1822 – 5 December 1916) was a member of the British royal family, a granddaughter of George III. She married into the Grand Ducal House of Mecklenburg-Strelitz and became Grand Duchess of Mecklenburg-Strelitz .

Description. Princess Augusta (1797-1889) was the third daughter of Frederick, Landgrave of Hesse-Cassel, and Caroline Polyxene of Nassau-Usingen. In 1818, she married Adolphus, Duke of Cambridge. They had three children.
A granddaughter of King George III of the United Kingdom and niece of the reigning King George IV, at the time of her birth Princess Augusta was 9th in the line of succession to the British throne. Early life in Hanover. Princess Augusta was christened into the Church of England at the Montbrillant Palace on 16 August 1822.
