Victorian wars. During the Crimean War (1854-56), the 21st fought at the Alma (1854), Inkerman (1854) and Sevastopol (1854-55). It formed a new 2nd Battalion in 1857. Both battalions spent the next 20 years in garrisons across the British Empire. In 1877, it was renamed the 21st (Royal Scots Fusiliers) Regiment of Foot.
