Their wedding was held in Berlin, Kingdom of Prussia, now in the German state of Brandenburg, on May 24, 1913, and was one of the largest gatherings of royalty in Germany since the establishment of the German Empire in 1871.

Viktoria and Adolf married on 19 November 1890 in a Lutheran ceremony, in the chapel of Berlin's Alte Schloss. Much of Viktoria's extended family made up the nearly sixty royal guests, as well as the large wedding party. Viktoria's brother Wilhelm gave the toast.
