  4. The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) was formed in 1947. The primary purpose of the establishment was the training of Officer Cadets to become regular commissioned officers in the British Army.

  5. RMAS today. After the Second World War (1939-45), budget cuts saw RMA Woolwich unify with RMC Sandhurst in 1947. This created the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS). The RMAS still provides officer cadet training and acts as the primary source of regular Army officers.
