3 de may. de 2024 · In 1665 Robert Hooke published what would become his most famous work, Micrographia (”Small Drawings”). In it he included his studies and illustrations of the crystal structure of snowflakes and first used the word cell to name the microscopic honeycomb cavities in cork.

He is credited as one of the first scientists to investigate living things at microscopic scale in 1665, using a compound microscope that he designed.
