Robert A. Taft (1889–1953) represented Ohio in the Senate from 1939 to 1953. A Republican and the son of former president William Howard Taft, Robert Taft was a critic of the internationalist and interventionist foreign policy that characterized the presidencies of Harry Truman (1884–1972) and Dwight Eisenhower (1890–1969).
