Ranald had travelled purposely from Ireland to assist his kinsman Sir Gilchrist Mure of Rowallane (her husband Sir Adams great grandfather) during times of trouble (The Battle of Largs). In gratitude Sir Gilchrist bestowed the land of Polkellie on Ranald.

She married Robert II Stewart, King of Scotland, son of Walter Stewart, 6th High Steward of Scotland and Margorie Bruce, Princess of Scotland, on 22 November 1347, by Papal dispensation, which legitimised their previously born children.2 She died before 1355.3.
