Das Sonderstandesamt ist eine einmalige Einrichtung, die es nur in Bad Arolsen gibt. Aufgabe des Amtes ist die Beurkundung von Sterbefällen in den ehemaligen deutschen Konzentrationslagern. Hierbei arbeitet das Sonderstandesamt mit den Arolsen Archives eng zusammen, der seinen Sitz ebenfalls in Bad Arolsen hat.
Sonderstandesamt Bad Arolsen. Das Sonderstandesamt Bad Arolsen wurde mit Landesverordnung vom 1. September 1949 [1] als hessisches Landesamt in der Stadt Bad Arolsen errichtet und mit dem Gesetz zur Änderung und Ergänzung des Personenstandsgesetzes vom 15. Januar 1951 [2] bundesgesetzlich geregelt.
