16 de abr. de 2021 · Stirling Castle played a prominent role during the Wars of Independence when English kings tried to subdue Scotland. The first known buildings at the site, likely made of timber, were built in the late 11th century during the reign of Malcolm III of Scotland (r. 1058-1093). Leaders from across Scotland met at the castle annually in this period.
