Johanna is a fictional character appearing in the story of Sweeney Todd. In the original version of the tale, the penny dreadful The String of Pearls (1846–7), her name is Johanna Oakley and she is no relation of Todd.

Johanna Barker is Sweeney Todd and his wife Lucy's sixteen-year-old daughter, who was stolen from them many years ago by Judge Turpin who now has custody of her. Up in her room, Johanna is locked away from the world. She has no idea what happened to her parents, but still dreams of freedom outside.

22 de mar. de 2021 · Johanna (Quartet) Sweeney Todd contains three Johanna pieces. The first is a soaring and heroic declaration of love, sung by Anthony in the first act. Its accompaniment line grows out of the church chimes that toll throughout the score. The second Johanna is Judge Turpin’s diabolical soliloquy.
