19 de ene. de 2023 · Why Church Donations Are Important. Tithing has been known since Old Testament times. As recorded in Genesis 14:17–20, the prophet Abraham paid tithes to Melchizedek. For members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, paying tithing and other donations to the Church is a sacred privilege.
General conference is the worldwide gathering of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Twice a year, during the first weekend of April and the first weekend of October, Church leaders from around the world share messages, or sermons, focused on Jesus Christ and His gospel.
9 de oct. de 2023 · General conferences have been held since 1830, when the Lord restored His Church on the earth through the Prophet Joseph Smith. The first conferences were held so that believers could gather together, share inspiring messages, and sustain, or show mutual support for, their Church leaders. Today all are welcome to join in worshipping Jesus Christ.

The official canonized scriptures of the Church today consist of the Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price. Jesus and the writers of the New Testament regarded the books of the Old Testament as scripture (Matt. 22:29; John 5:39; 2 Tim. 3:15; 2 Pet. 1:20–21). See also Chronology in the appendix.
