29 de jun. de 2023 · Lord Airlie had a close involvement with the Royal Family, attending the 1937 Coronation of George VI, the 1953 Coronation of Elizabeth II and was recently at the Coronation of King Charles. In 1984 he became Lord Chamberlain – head of the Royal Household – to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 1984 and served until 1997, then becoming a Permanent Lord-in-Waiting to the Queen.
He succeeded his father as Lord Ogilvy about 1618. [1] For Ogilvy's support of the royalist cause, during the struggle between the court and the Scottish Presbyterians, Charles I created him Earl of Airlie by patent dated at York 2 April 1639. During the Bishops' War he suffered severely, with his estates wasted and his houses razed to the ground.

Article from the Dundee Year book of 1900. Dundee District was deeply stirred by the news that the Earl of Airlie had been killed in action in South Africa on the 11th June 1900. A short time before the alarm had been felt when it was known that he had been wounded, but from his hurt he quickly recovered, only to meet his death in the field.
David John Ogilvy, 14th Earl of Airlie (b. March 9, 1958); served as a page boy at the wedding of his uncle Angus Ogilvy and Princess Alexandra. Lord Ogilvy married, firstly, in 1981, Hon. Geraldine Harmsworth, daughter of Vere Harmsworth, 3rd Viscount Rothermere. They had a daughter before divorcing in 1990.
