The Royal Ballet School is a British school of classical ballet training [1] [2] founded in 1926 by the Anglo-Irish ballerina and choreographer Ninette de Valois. The school's aim is to train and educate outstanding classical ballet dancers, especially for the Royal Ballet (based at the Royal Opera House in London) and the Birmingham Royal Ballet .

We hold annual auditions for our full-time and Associate programmes. We seek young dancers with a passion for classical ballet and the potential and motivation to pursue a career in dance. We welcome applications from all, and no student should be discouraged from applying.
Founding of the School. The School was founded in 1926, when Dame Ninette de Valois opened her Academy of Choreographic Art. Inspired to create a repertory ballet company and school, she collaborated with Lilian Baylis, lessee and Manager of the Old Vic Theatre.
