La primera versión, lanzada en 1983, ya tiene todo lo que hace reconocible este logotipo. La barra horizontal de la letra «T» se extiende sobre la «H» y la «X», mientras que debajo de la marca denominativa, hay otra barra horizontal. El logo aparece y desaparece. El tráiler original, apodado «Wings» (en honor a la película del mismo nombre ganadora...
Desde entonces, el tráiler ha aparecido en millones de DVD y cintas VHS con certificación THX. Ha habido más de 20 variantes que varían según los efectos visuales, el esquema de color, la música, el texto, etc.
El tráiler se basa en el llamado Deep Note, una marca comercial de audio desarrollada por el Dr. James A. Moorer. Es un crescendo sintetizado (y bastante ominoso) que se mueve de un retumbar bajo a un tono alto.
En los remolques, las letras «THX» han aparecido en una variedad de colores y tonalidades. En la mayoría de los casos, se han utilizado tonos plateados para crear un efecto brillante.
This is also on the Blu-ray releases with some differences: the THX logo fades into the standard logo, the "DIGITALLY" and "MASTERED" (à la Broadway '95) are replaced with "CERTIFIED," and the www.thx.com URL with a copyright notice appears; which served as the basis of Cavalcade.
26 de nov. de 2023 · The THX logo appearing on screen has become synonymous with the feeling of settling in for a truly cinematic experience. Developed at George Lucas’s Lucasfilm in the early 1980s for the release of Return of the Jedi, the THX brand has grown to become an assurance of audiovisual quality.
THX's mascot is a robot named Tex, created by John Lasseter, the former head of Pixar Animation Studios. He first appeared in the original Tex trailer (simply known as Tex 1), which premiered in theaters with Independence Day on July 3, 1996, in which he fixes up the THX logo.
