  7. Biography. Vakhushti Bagrationi (Batonishvili), was born in 1696 in Tbilisi, an illegitimate son of King Vakht‘ang VI of Kʻartʻli (r. 1716-24). He was raised by the royal family, and received a good education. He studied widely, and was dedicated to scientific research and literary translations.
