17 de ago. de 2023 · Edward VIII’s determination to marry Wallis Simpson provoked a constitutional crisis in 1936. Prime Minister Baldwin and the rest of the government opposed the marriage, as did the royal family. On December 10, 1936, Edward VIII abdicated the throne after 326 days of reign.
