12 de oct. de 2022 · He will be dearly missed by all. Walter is preceded in death by his parents, and his grandson, Timothy Smithe, Jr. The wake will be held at Ryan-Parke funeral home in Park Ridge on Friday, October 21, from 4-8pm.
The two renamed the store Smithe and Shanahan, but Bill Shanahan eventually sold his share to Smithe's brother Charlie. Walter E. Smithe, Jr. joined the business in the 1960s with his brothers Gary and Tomm, and began phasing out appliances to focus on custom upholstery.

May 19, 1936 - October 9, 2022. It is with great sadness that the family of Walter Edward Smithe, Jr., announces his passing. Walter was the patriarch of the extended Smithe family and the founder of Walter E. Smithe Furniture & Design. He died peacefully with his beloved wife of 64 years, Florence Flynn Smithe, by his side.

Smithe III—the 59-year-old grandson of the business’s namesake—and the sisters’ uncles, Mark and Tim. The Smithe brothers used good-natured humor on countless TV commercials selling furniture.
