Angela Lansbury, who had already been nominated for Best Supporting Actress for Gaslight (1944) and The Picture of Dorian Gray (1945), filled out the love triangle.

But then Angela's character has a lobotomy (not literally) and becomes a completely different person, before the religious angle slinks in from left field.
