Shooters found the lever-action could be awkward to operate, compared to a Winchester Model 1873, but in spite of all this, the Model 1887 sold very well at first. Over 64,000 guns were produced between its introduction and 1898.

19 de abr. de 2024 · Properly configured as a Model 1887 on the outside with that gun’s distinctive solid finger level, the Cimarron 1887 grabbed my immediate attention. Most of the earlier Chinese import so-called Model 1887 shotguns had the hinged finger lever found on the later 10-gauge Model 1901 Winchester.

Remember the Model 1887 was built for black powder 2-5/8" cartridges and the action is not strong enough for smokeless powder. It will not be shootable unless you invest a lot into manufacturing your own ammunition.
